If you choose to lay your beloved companion to rest at home, or prefer to make your own arrangements, we will respectfully leave them in your care.
A Guide to Cremation Options For Pets
If cremation feels like the right option for your family, we can guide you through the available choices and help you understand what to expect.
Private cremation
Your pet is cremated individually, and their ashes are returned to you. Many families choose this option if they would like their pet’s ashes returned in a memorial urn or keepsake.
Communal cremation
Your pet is cremated with other pets, and ashes are not returned. Families may choose this option when they prefer not to keep ashes.
Water cremation
Water cremation is an alternative to traditional flame cremation and uses a water-based process. Availability varies, but we can help you explore whether this option is accessible in your area.

For many families, remembering their pet in a meaningful way is an important part of the grieving process. This may include:
Keeping ashes in a memorial urn
Scattering ashes in a place that held special meaning for your pet
Choosing a small keepsake or jewellery
Creating a memory space at home or in the garden
Holding a private farewell or remembrance ritual
There is no expectation to decide any of this immediately. Many families choose to take time before deciding how they’d like to remember their pet.

At Furwells, we work closely with trusted pet cremation providers who share our commitment to dignity, compassion, and respectful care. We’re happy to connect you with one of our cremation partners, or work alongside a provider you’ve already chosen, to ensure your pet’s aftercare is managed smoothly and with care.
If you choose a private cremation, ashes can be returned in a range of receptacle options. These may include simple containers, decorative urns, small keepsakes, jewellery and endless further personalised options such as paw castings and various memorabilia. Your chosen cremation provider can talk you through their available options once you’re ready.
Additionally, if you wish, we can arrange the transfer of your pet to the cremation provider, or coordinate a home collection on your behalf, so you don’t need to manage logistics during an emotional moment.

We don’t make cremation decisions on your behalf, as families’ preferences and needs can vary. We can, however, connect you with a trusted pet cremation provider, talk you through the available options, and assist with transfer of your pet if needed.
